The Perfect Summer Treat

This delicious strawberry ice cream is a favorite in our house, and it’s incredibly easy to make. I use an ice cream maker for this recipe, which makes the whole process effortless. The result is guaranteed to be smooth, creamy, and packed with fresh strawberry flavor. It’s definitely one of my favorite homemade ice cream recipes, although I love the peach ice cream or this ice cream cake almost as much.

Fresh Strawberries

Besides loving homemade ice cream, I’m also a huge fan of fresh strawberries! I use them in all kinds of delicious desserts and baked treats, from my popular strawberry sheet cake to this summery strawberry tiramisu and my irresistible strawberry cake recipe. If you love strawberries as much as I do, you’ll have plenty of recipes to enjoy!

Recipe Ingredients

Making this strawberry ice cream requires an ice cream maker and the following ingredients:

  • Strawberries – the sweeter they smell, the sweeter the final ice cream
  • Sugar – I use a fine granulated sugar for this recipe
  • Heavy cream & whole milk – for a creamy ice cream base
  • Pinch of salt – don’t skip the salt as it really enhances the flavor of the strawberries, making the ice cream even better. And don’t worry you will not taste the salt!
  • Vanilla extract – because everything tastes better with vanilla!

How To Make Strawberry Ice Cream

Making this strawberry ice cream is super easy. The only thing is that you will need to take a bit of time into account for the mixture to cool sufficiently before you add it to the ice cream maker.

I prepare the strawberries by mashing them together with the sugar and then refrigerate overnight. This lets the sugar dissolve and the strawberries will release their juices which will result in an even more delicious ice cream.

The next day you add the mixture to a large bowl, add the heavy cream, milk, salt and vanilla. Stir it all together and add to your ice cream maker. Now, every machine is different so make sure to also check the instructions from the manufacturer. Let it churn until you have a delicious thick ice cream. And serve!
