Making garlic butter is actually a very simple job, but so incredibly delicious. Homemade garlic butter is a lovely addition to an appetizer or when you’re grilling on the BBQ with some French bread, This is such an easy recipe, you’ll be making it all the time!
Homemade garlic butter
It is so absurdly easy to make yourself and I am sure once you start making your own garlic butter you will be hooked! It’s delicious with fresh herbs such as fresh parsley and chives. I use a few more simple ingredients like garlic, a fair amount of salt and the secret ingredient; lemon zest, leaving this compound butter packed with flavor and incredibly fresh!

Versatile cooking with garlic butter
You can use this butter in a bunch of different ways. Of course, you can spread it on a baguette, but you can also use it to make add a bit of flavor to other dishes! So, the next time you’re left with a lot of compound butter, keep these variations in mind:
- Make your own quick garlic bread. Slice into a baguette, leaving the bottom uncut so the baguette stays together. Put some butter in between the slices and broil the baguette for a few minutes.
- Fry some potatoes or spuds in a little garlic butter instead of regular butter and/or oil.
- Fry shrimp or prawns in homemade garlic butter, delicious! You can do the same with meat or vegetables.
- Scrub a large potato clean, cut it in half at the top and fill with the butter to taste. Then bake in the oven.

Simple garlic butter recipe
Making your own easy garlic butter is a simple matter of cutting, grating and mixing everything together. It works best when the butter is at room temperature, so it is soft enough to mix everything together. Let the butter set in the refrigerator for a while before serving.
Also, as a true garlic lover I prefer fresh garlic over garlic powder. It’s packed with flavor and all kinds of good stuff, so don’t skimp on the fresh ingredients! I personally love this compound butter on a baguette or sesame bun with a bowl of soup or with a nice salad. Very summery and perfect for warmer weather!
