Teriyaki salmon, a tasty and easy recipe for oven-baked salmon fillets in a simple homemade teriyaki sauce. The ideal meal to impress and because it is so easy, it is also perfect as a easy weeknight dinner for the whole family. Nutritious and delicious!
Easy teriyaki salmon recipe
Teriyaki sauce is a popular addition to many dishes in Japanese cuisine. It is a typical salty umami sauce that goes incredibly well with any rice dish. You can use store-bought or make your own homemade teriyaki sauce, as I did in this recipe.
It works particularly well in this teriyaki salmon, it’s a perfect combination. I like to serve it with white rice, sesame seeds and a crunchy vegetable like broccoli, beans or asparagus.
Make your own Japanese teriyaki sauce
The combination of fresh salmon and this savory teriyaki sauce is to die for! And you can do it without any packaging, because the teriyaki sauce is completely homemade. You mix all the ingredients (soy sauce, fresh ginger, garlic and brown sugar among others), bring to the boil and let it thicken. As simple as that!
You cook the salmon with the sauce in the oven. If you haven’t tried this method yet, I highly recommend it. Because it is that easy, this is my favorite salmon recipe for a healthy dinner.
Teriyaki salmon with vegetables
So today I will focus on the teriyaki salmon, I keep the rest simple. Some cooked rice or noodles, a fresh salad and/or some nice crunchy vegetables! I personally love broccoli, but you can use beans, asparagus or any other vegetable of your choice.
In this recipe, I’ve been generous with the amount of sauce, so you’ll have enough to serve with the rice and vegetables. The perfect dinner! I love the delicious, balanced flavor of this Japanese sauce.
Making salmon with teriyaki sauce
The star of this dish, the teriyaki sauce, is very easy to make. So is the rest of the recipe, for that matter. When the sauce is ready, spread it over the salmon in an ovenproof dish. Put it in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes. This leaves you enough time to prepare the rest of the dish. Serve everything together, pour the sauce on top and garnish with some scallions and sesame seeds! Super tasty, super fast, and super nutritious. What more could you ask for?
Another fast and easy weeknight dinner recipe is my version of the classic hamburger helper, completely made from scratch, super tasty!
