Why this Recipe Works

When I’m craving something tasty yet nutritious, I often go for these salmon wraps. My favorite way to fill them is with smoked salmon, cream cheese and crunchy vegetables.

Nutritious Salmon Wrap Snacks

You really don’t need much to make something delicious. A generous layer of cream cheese (I like using Boursin), some crunchy cucumber, a bit of lettuce, some sesame seeds and smoked salmon, and your salmon wraps are ready.

If you’re serving smoked salmon wraps as a party snack, they’re delicious when paired with chicken spring rolls, bitterballen, and these puff pastry bites. All four are super easy to make and perfect for a snack platter.

Smoked Salmon Wrap Rolls

Of course, you don’t have to make these as party snacks, you can also simply make a salmon wrap and eat it for lunch. Just as delicious, and it’s easy to take with you on the go or to work. Just make sure to keep it well chilled, of course. You can prepare them in advance so you can easily pack them up and take them with you!

Tip: Vary with the Fillings

One of the great things about wraps is how easy they are to customize with different fillings. I used three wraps here to divide the salmon between them, but you could also make one with smoked salmon, one with roast beef, and a vegetarian version with extra vegetable toppings. That way, there’s something for everyone.

The Finishing Touch

The finishing touch for the salmon wraps is a sprinkle of sesame seeds before you roll them up. Make sure to roll the wraps as tightly as possible. This helps prevent them from falling apart later. A decorative cocktail stick is also a nice touch to stick into the salmon rolls. It keeps them together and makes them look even more appealing.

FAQ Salmon Wraps

Can I prepare them in advance?

That is certainly possible. Wrap them tightly in plastic wrap a day in advance. Don’t slice the wraps yet; do that as close to serving time as possible so they don’t dry out.

Can I keep the wraps for a while?

That works perfectly well too. Again, wrap them well in plastic wrap and store them in the refrigerator for no more than 1-2 days.

Can I substitute the cucumber?

If you don’t want cucumber in your salmon wraps, you can easily replace it with avocado, for example. It’s delicious too!
