Why this Recipe Works

Together with some homemade Greek pita bread, these oven baked meatballs make a delicious meal. Of course, you can also use store-bought pitas to make things slightly easier and faster.

Ingredients for Oven Baked Meatballs

For these chicken oven baked meatballs, I used some simple ingredients. I gave them a Greek-style twist and served them with rice, a simple Greek salad with tomato and feta, and a tasty yoghurt dip.

  • Meat: I used ground chicken, you could swap it for turkey or even beef
  • Spices: for a burst of (Greek) flavor I used dried oregano, chili flakes and ground cumin
  • Fresh herbs: in this recipe I used parsley and chives, you could also add some dill!
  • Binding agents: I mixed in an egg and panko (coarse breadcrumbs) for juicy but firm meatballs

Baking Chicken Meatballs in the Oven

What I also love about this recipe is how little effort it requires. You mix everything together, spread the meatballs out on a baking sheet, and the oven does the rest. Ideal, right?

Also delicious are chicken meatballs served on their own as a snack, for example, at a party. The tzatziki dip is highly recommended, but the meatballs are delicious even without a dip. I love that chicken mince makes deliciously moist meatballs.

Oven Baked Meatballs Bowl

I love dishes where you mix everything together in a bowl. It always feels like a little party, and you can customize them exactly the way you like. Here, I’ve made it into a Greek-inspired dish, but these meatballs will also taste great with orzo and grilled vegetables or in wraps with spinach. Just add whatever you like!
