Why this Recipe Works
Hamburger pinwheels have become increasingly more popular lately. They’re fun, tasty and a nice way to spice up your classic old burger. In any case, making these burgers yourself is incredibly easy and also a fun task! I’ll explain how to do it.

Crazy About Burgers
You can always count on me for a good hamburger. They’re an easy meal that makes the whole family happy, and you can make them as simple or elaborate as you like. I like making a good smash burger, but I also regularly opt for these hamburger pinwheels. They are a recent addition to my repertoire and have already become one of my favorites!
Pinwheel Burger Ingredients
As I said, these spiral hamburger pinwheels are very easy to prepare and so much fun! A great task to do with your kids, or anyone who’s willing to help (if you’re lucky 😉 ). Let me tell you about what goes in them.
- Minced meat, I prefer ground beef over pork for this one.
- Bacon or pancetta, to roll the meat in
- Spices, such as smoked paprika, onion powder and garlic powder
- Grated cheese, a nice flavorfull grated cheese to mix into the meat makes all the difference
If you want to go the extra mile, you can make your own soft sesame buns to serve them on!

How to Make Hamburger Pinwheels
These burgers look spectacular, but they’re relatively easy to make. I secretly enjoy rolling them up, and they turn out incredibly delicious! I season the meat with onion powder, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. I also add some grated, extra-mature cheese to the mixture.
Build Your Burger
Then, as you can see in the photo above, I roll the minced meat in bacon and flatten the pinwheel hamburger a little so that it cooks better. Just fry it in a pan, and then you can build your burger! I chose melted cheddar and homemade Big Mac sauce. Serve with a salad and fresh fries for a delicious, comforting meal.

BBQ or Pan Fried?
These hamburger pinwheels are perfect for grilling. I also like to briefly grill the buns to make them slightly crispy. If it’s not BBQ season, you can fry them in a pan. Now you can enjoy homemade pinwheel burgers all year round!
FAQ

Can I leave out the cheese?
Also a yes, you can leave out the cheese or replace it with a plant-based kind if you want to go lactose free.
I don’t eat pork, can I make these burgers?
Yes, I suggest you use ground beef in general for these burgers and you can replace the pork bacon with turkey bacon!

Ingredients
- 400 gram ground beef
- 75 gram extra-mature cheese (grated)
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 2 tsp smoked paprika powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- salt and pepper
- 8 slices bacon
- 4 hamburger buns
- 8 slices cheddar cheese
- Big Mac sauce
- Delicious accompaniments/toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles, and fries.
Equipment
- Grill pan
INSTRUCTIONS (how to make this recipe):
- First, mix the spices into the ground beef with the grated cheese, then season with salt and pepper.
- Take two slices of bacon and lay them lengthwise in front of you, slightly overlapping them (see the photo in the article for reference). Spread a quarter of the meat mixture over the bacon, then roll it up to form a spiral burger. Flatten it with your hand. Repeat with the remaining minced meat and bacon to make a total of four pinwheel burgers.
- Cook the burgers on both sides on a grill (or in a grill pan), and when they are almost done, top them with a slice of cheddar cheese so that it melts.
- Meanwhile, grill the hamburger buns briefly on the barbecue or in the pan. Top them to taste with Big Mac sauce and a slice of cheddar on the bottom. Then, add the burger.
- Add any extra toppings, such as crispy lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles. Serve with fries. Enjoy your meal!
