Ingredients

10 pieces
  • 250 ml milk (lukewarm)
  • 7 gram yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 500 gram all purpose flour
  • 50 gram unsalted butter
  • 5 gram salt
  • 1 egg (+ a dash of milk)
  • 30 gram sesame seeds

Equipment

  • Stand mixer or food processor with dough hook
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Basting brush

INSTRUCTIONS (how to make this recipe):

  • Mix the milk, yeast and sugar (possibly already in the bowl of your stand mixer) and leave to activate for a while until it starts to foam.
  • Add the flour, butter and salt and knead to a smooth dough.
  • Cover and leave to rise in a warm place for an hour, until doubled in size.
  • Form about 10 balls of about 80 grams / 3 oz each. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover and leave to rise for half an hour.
  • Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 230 degrees Celsius / 445 Fahrenheit top and bottom heat.
  • Whisk an egg with a dash of milk. Brush the dough balls with this using a basting brush and then sprinkle the sesame seeds on top.
  • Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Leave the buns to cool on a wire rack, covered with a clean tea towel, and enjoy!
