Apple turnovers

This is THE homemade apple turnovers recipe, a real classic and so easy to make! Today I'm sharing my favorite sweet Dutch recipe with you.

Ingredients

10 pieces
  • 2 apples (medium sized)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tbsp cinnamon
  • 10 sheets puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 egg + a dash of milk
  • extra powdered sugar for decoration

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Basting brush

INSTRUCTIONS (how to make this recipe):

  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius / 390 Fahrenheit top and bottom heat.
  • Peel and chop the apples into small pieces.
  • Place the apples in a bowl and sprinkle with the sugar and cinnamon.
  • Take a sheet of puff pastry and place some of the apple pieces on top, leaving the edges free. Fold diagonally and press down the edges with a fork.
  • Repeat with the rest of the apple and pastry until you have made all the apple turnovers.
  • Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Beat the egg with a dash of milk and brush the turnovers.
  • Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Dust with a little extra powdered sugar for decoration. Enjoy!
