Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius / 347 Fahrenheit top and bottom heat.
Beat the sugar and butter until light, about 5 minutes.
Add the eggs to the mixture one at a time.
Add the crème fraîche, buttermilk, baking powder, baking soda, salt and flour and mix to form a smooth dough.
Pour the mixture into a greased cake tin and bake for about 50-60 minutes.* Test the cake with a skewer to see if it is done. If it comes out dry, the cake is done. Leave the cake to cool for a while in the tin and then on a wire rack. Enjoy!

*Do you want a nice crack at the top of your cake? Then, before you put the cake in the oven, make a slit with a knife and pour in a little melted butter.
