Green bean casserole

Green bean casserole, a delicious oven dish made with green beans, minced meat and potatoes. Simple but delicious and a true family favourite.

Ingredients

4 people
  • 400 gram green beans
  • 600 gram potato slices (pre cooked)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 500 gram minced meat
  • 2 tsp curry powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 250 ml heavy cream
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 75 gram mozzarella (grated)
  • 75 gram aged Gouda (grated)
  • 1 cube vegetable stock
  • oil, pepper and salt
  • optional: fresh parsley

  • 20x20 cm / 8x8 inch oven dish

INSTRUCTIONS (how to make this recipe):

  • Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius / 345 Fahrenheit top and bottom heat.
  • Cook the beans for about 8 minutes until al dente and the potato slices for 10 minutes.
  • In a large frying pan, fry the onion and garlic in a little oil. Add the minced meat and fry until brown.
  • Add half of the curry powder and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add the green beans and cook over a low heat with the meat for a further 5 minutes.
  • Drain the potatoes well and place half of the potatoes in the dish, then add the green beans and minced meat. Arrange the other half of the potatoes on top of the green beans.
  • Mix the eggs with the heavy cream, 3/4 of the cheeses, onion powder, curry powder and crumble into the stock cube. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Mix well with a whisk. Pour the cream over the potatoes. Garnish with the remaining cheese.
  • Bake in the oven for 30-45 minutes until cooked and golden brown and the cheese is melted. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Enjoy!
