Classic Waldorf salad

The Waldorf salad is a classic and a great side dish or light meal. It's made with walnuts, celery, apples, raisins, and mayonnaise, so delicious!

Ingredients

4 people
Salad:
  • 2 Granny Smith apples
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 50 gram walnuts
  • 100 gram red grapes
  • 1 handful raisins
Dressing:
  • 50 gram mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp honey
  • salt and pepper to taste

INSTRUCTIONS (how to make this recipe):

  • Cut the apples into thin strips or small cubes. Sprinkle with a little lemon juice immediately to prevent discoloration.
  • Cut the celery into thin slices and roughly chop the walnuts.
  • Halve the grapes.
  • In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, lemon juice, honey, salt and pepper together to make a creamy dressing.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the apple, celery, walnuts, grapes and raisins (if using). Add the dressing and stir well.

This Waldorf salad goes perfectly with chicken breast with a crispy crust, making it a filling main course. Serve with a baguette or other bread for an even more filling meal.
