Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit / 180 degrees Celsius, with the top and bottom heating elements on.
Soak the bread in milk and let it sit.
Heat some oil in a large frying pan and briefly fry the onion and garlic.
Add the ground beef and cook until fully done.
Then, add the curry powder, turmeric, coriander, cumin, and cinnamon. Fry everything together briefly.
Squeeze the excess milk from the bread. Add the bread to the meat and fry for about two minutes.
Add the lemon juice, mango chutney, raisins, almond flakes, and bay leaves. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then simmer gently for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, cook the green beans until al dente.
Add the green beans to the meat mixture and stir.
Transfer the mixture to an oven dish and press down evenly.
In a bowl, beat the eggs with the milk, crème fraîche, and any remaining milk from the bread. Season with salt and pepper. Pour the mixture evenly over the minced meat.
Bake the bobotie in the oven for approximately 45 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve with rice and, if desired, extra chutney on the side. Bon appétit!
